From the Producer of Life of Pi, here’s another flick that shall definitely stay with you for a long time. The trailer of ‘Love Sonia’ is one that forces you to look beyond your comfort and a peek into the dark world of human trafficking. Starting the frame with ‘Inspired by True Events’ and then ending it with ‘270 Women and Girls go missing in India everyday’, with all the bold and in-your-face sequences in between, the intensity of the movie is not to be undermined.
This is the journey of Sonia, who is in search of her sister who was taken to Mumbai with a promise of a job and never returned. While on it, she is abducted into prostitution and human trafficking. Determined to find her sister, Preeti, she obtains help from fellow sex workers (Freida Pinto and Richa Chadda). Rajkumar Rao plays a cop, trying to help Sonia and others out of this and bust the racket.
The trailer itself is dark enough, with the dingy Mumbai brothels, under-age girls subject to prostitution and the people running the business, young and innocent girls from villages to Mumbai and then put into containers and shipped internationally.
Love Sonia is all set to release on the 14th of September, directed by Tabrez Noorani and David Womark, the cast also includes Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, Demi Moore and Mark Duplass, introducing Mrunal Thakur.
