At first the trailer may sound like a government run ad on DD channel, but no, this is the newest peek of the Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer- “Janhit Me Jaari”. The trailer attempts to introduce the theme of the film i.e. importance of usage of contraceptive devices, especially condoms in its 3 minutes tenuous run. It is a pleasant surprise to see role reversal in accommodating female leads for such stories that are socially driven and not just Akshay Kumar or Ayushman Khuranna doing their typecast roles. In terms of casting, the directors seemed to have moved away from the repeated recycling of actors who have been seen in similar ‘rural-issues’ template before. I am certainly looking forward to what newer elements Anuj Singh Dhaka, of ‘Taj Mahal’ and ‘Adulting’ fame can bring to the fore screen as Bharucha’s love interest in the film.
However, the trailer is a flat soda and fails to deliver bubbles of curiosity that loop around the anticipation of an unreleased film; rather it comes across as the same old mix of small town characters sprinkled with activism and punctured humour put together. We can still hope that the film brings enhanced additions to this over-used template of films that Bollywood has been happily churning out endlessly off the late.
