The trailer for Hansal Mehta’s upcoming crime drama series “Scoop”, inspired by real life event is unveiled today. The show is based on Jigna Vora’s book “Behind Bars In Byculla: My Days In Prison”.

The trailer begins with a phone call. It is told that there is a call from some ‘Nana’ aka Chota Rajan for Jagruti Pathak (played by Karishma Tanna) from Dubai. Jagruti is a crime reporter who has became the Deputy Bureau Chief in a career of just 7 years. Jagruti is known for consistently delivering big and sensational news. She has a good grip in the police department as well as underworld and her competitors believe that she has taken the help of her contacts to move ahead in career whereas Jagruti is unbothered and happy in her own world.

Hwr life turns upside down and becomes a breaking news itself when senior crime reporter Jaideb Sen (played by Prosenjit Chatterjee) gets shot in broad day light and Jagruti becomes the main accused in the police investigation. The matter becomes more intense when Chota Rajan himself admits over a phone call that Jagruti Pathak has insisted him to murder Jaideb Sen. People are demanding justice for Jaideb Sen whereas Jagruti is imprisoned in the jail and is fighting alone to prove herself innocent. The trailer throws light on the fact that how quick the society is when it comes to passing judgements.

Hansal Mehta never fails when it comes to star cast and this time too he’s in no mood to let down the viewers is what we can conclude from the 2 minutes 46 seconds long trailer. Karishma Tanna who remains the centre of attention in the trailer really impresses with her acting as Jagruti Pathak, leaving you wanting for more. Apart from Tanna, the series also stars Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Tejaswini Kolhapure and Shikha Talsania in prominent roles.

Written by Mrinmoyee Lagoo Vaikul and Mirat Trivedi and produced by Matchbox Shots, “Scoop” streams on Netflix from June 2, 2023.
