Few Directors in Bollywood capture the small-town essence quite as Aanand L. Rai does, and this time, with Atrangi Re, he seems to have outdone himself. Atrangi Re which is been at the talk of the town since it is introduced.

Atrangi Re is a movie revolving around the theme of forced marriages (not arranged), Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush seem to embody the ethos of the unwitting couple to the hilt. Sara’s North Indian accent has raised high expectations. This film is more than just a love triangle. Let’s take a look at the trailer.

The trailer begins with Tamil speaking Vishu ( Dhanush ) getting kidnapped and being forced into a wedding mandap. His bride, Rinku Sooryavanshi (Sara Ali Khan) is an extrovert, a rebel who doesn’t want to get married as she don’t believe in forced marriage and she’s the girl who wishes to lead her life on her own terms. As fate would have it, she ends up getting forcefully married, in a seemingly drugged state.

After marrying forcefully they move to Delhi where Vishu lives. Rinku tells Vishu that she is against the wedding and is already in love with someone else. The couple mutually decides to part ways after a few days, but things take a turn as they both began to fall in love with each other or so we are guessing from the trailer. It seems that Sara’s role is big in this movie as she’s going to face a big trouble , because she’s having a double love interest. Her definition of love has changed alot.

After a series of events, Akshay Kumar (Sajad) makes a grand entry atop an elephant. Akshay’s screen time is less as he’s playing a extended cameo role. Sajad is Sara’s other love interest and a magician by profession. Now she can’t decide who she wants to be with. To know of her decision, we would have to wait for the film to hit our screens.

It’s Anand L Rai’s film that’s always colorful the music that is edited with the line ‘ sala garda uda diya ‘ is giving the overall trailer a good look and feel. The old fashioned concept like love triangle type is showing less impact here. And the only thing which is disagreeable here is like in just a 3 minute trailer they have shown full concept of movie.

The romantic-musical drama is written by Rai’s long-time collaborator Himanshu Sharma. It will feature music by A R Rahman with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.

Written by Himanshu Sharma, Atrangi Re has managed to create a lot of excitement, we hope it lives up to it. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar-led T-Series, Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films. Set to hit your screens on 24th December.

Atrangi Re will stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
