The much-awaited trailer of ‘Bell Bottom’ starring Akshay Kumar is finally out & we cannot contain our excitement.
Bell Bottom is a spy thriller film set in the 80s & centres around a plane hijacking incident, one among many as per the trailer. Akshay Kumar is seen essaying the role of a multi-talented undercover agent while Vaani Kapoor plays the role of Akshay’s wife. Huma Qureshi features as one of Akshay’s team members & Lara Dutta looks unrecognizable as she portrays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The trailer opens with PM Indira Gandhi discussing the hijacking that has taken place with her ministers & one of them suggests the right person to deal with it, the agent with the code name ‘Bell Bottom’, who comes in to save the day with India’s first covert operation – a defining moment for the country. He plans a rescue operation to save the 200+ passengers of an airplane hijacked by the terrorists.
The three minute long trailer seems to suggest that Bell Bottom may be worth the long wait to see films in the theatre once again, with its action packed sequences, the 80s retro feel and Akshay Kumar in his OG Khiladi avatar.
Bell Bottom, based on true events, is directed by Ranjit M Tiwari. The film has been written by Aseem Arora and Parveez Sheikh & produced by Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment.
Bell Bottom was scheduled to release in April but was postponed due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. It is one of the few films that was shot completely during the ongoing pandemic.
The film will release theatrically in India on 19th August 2021 in 2D and 3D.
