Bhoot Police seems to be the Indian version of Ghostbusters. The two “ghostbusters” here are in the business for opposite reasons. While Vibhooti, played by Saif Ali Khan, uses the profession to make money and woo women,  Chiraunji, played by Arjun Kapoor, is a dedicated tantrik who believes ghosts exist and lives by his guru’s book of rules and methods and believes that he must help people with his gift.

What really works in the trailer are the huge sets and production designs. As you come across snippets of the film, you come across different colour tones, lighting and impressive sets. The trailer checks both the boxes of comedy and horror while actually showing the potential of possibly delivering a few jump scares.

The film follows the two “saviours” to Maya’s (Yami Gautam) native state in order to drive out a “jatil aatma” known as Kichkandi. While we see a glimpse of Jacqueline Fernandez too, it doesn’t tell us about who her character might be, but there is of course a fancy song montage.

The trailer suggests that the film is resting not only on jump scares but also on its lead stars’ comic timing, especially Khan’s, & seem to be hoping that the two balance each other out.

Directed by Pawan Kirpalani, the film has been produced by Ramesh Taurani and Akshai Puri. The film also stars actor Jaaved Jaaferi.

Bhoot Police releases on 17th September on Disney+ Hotstar. Check the trailer here –
