Bringing along Sonakshi Sinha’s OTT debut, Dahaad puts forward a gripping trailer that leaves you looking forward to the series.
It’s an off-beat town plagued with misogyny and Anjali Bhaati (Sonakshi), a cop, has a grueling case on her hands. Women have been missing, that too a shocking total of 27, all resulting in death by suicide on consumption of poision. There’s a definite pattern and behind it appears a serial-killer, played by a cold, eerie, Vijay Varma who targets young women, woos them and then eventually has them take their own lives. Joining Anjali in this game of cat-and-mouse with the antagonist, is Gulshan Devaiah’s cop.
The trailer is impressive, cut well and upheld by snippets of what all look like stern, commanding performances. It starts building tension from the very get go, as any news of multiple women reported missing would, and doesn’t let loose till the very end. Watching the trailer of Dahaad, feels like watching a sandstorm that’s approaching you, a spine-chilling calm in the middle with chaos and destruction all around. The highlight is certainly, the dialogue delivery by Varma’s character, who is orchestrating that eerie calm.
Dahaad is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi. The series also features Sohum Shah and Sanghmitra Hitaishi in the cast. It will stream on Amazon Prime Video from May 12.
