Dharma has just dropped the trailer of Kesari and we couldn’t stop watching it over and over again!

Saffron or Kesari is the color of valor, strength and sacrifice. The trailer has already justified to us as to why the movie is named so. It tells us that this is a story of the Battle of Saragarhi fought in the year of 1897 between Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen. It is an account of Havildar Ishar Singh, one among the 21 lion-hearted Sikhs who fought against 10,000 Afghan soldiers.

One can only imagine what amount of mental strength and physical preparation the soldiers must have had to fight in such a horribly biased war.

The 3 minute long trailer opened with the frustrations that the Sikhs were going through under the brutal British captive. They stood fighting on their own motherland, but were fighting for and under a foreign invader. And when in the voice of Akshay Kumar you here- “ Ek gore ne mujhse kaha tha ki tum ghulam ho, Hindustan ki mitti se darpok paida hote hain..”, you will feel the blood boiling in your head!!

Ik Onkar, the peaceful Sikh prayer for Guru Nanak plays in the background as we see flashes of the soldiers leaving their families before the war, flashes of their preparation for the war and finally, the prejudiced war. It only conveys to us how strong their faith in God might have been, how tough their families must have been to let go of their children and husbands fight the war and just how and resilient the soldiers were; to carve their names on the pillars of our history in such a magnificent manner.

The Indian National Flag is a tricolour consisting of the colours Saffron, White and Green with the Blue Ashoka Chakra gracing the centre of the flag. Kesari tells us that we very well deserved to have Saffron as a color on our flag because we irreconcilably owe it to the courageous Sikhs who fought this war in 1897.

Starring Parineeti Chopra and Akshay Kumar in the lead and directed by Anurag Singh, the movie is set to release exactly in a month- on March 21, 2019.

I can’t wait to see the drama and action in how the 21 unflinching and gallant heroes kill a flock of 10,000 men planning to invade their country!! Can you?!
