With all the pomp and grandeur of the Bhansali brand, here comes Malaal studded with a celebrity cast, set in the city of dreams – Mumbai.

The trailer shows Mumbai as the backdrop, amidst colors and all things Mumbai. Marathi toting, hot blooded protagonist (Meezan Jaaferi) who seems to have a dislike for non-marathi-speaking people. Enter our romantic interest (Sharmin Segal), who stands for everything he dislikes. Just moved to Mumbai and seems to speak Marathi, but not enough to convince him. This love-hate dynamic gives an interesting nuance to the film. As you might have guessed, the story is set atop the cultural and lingual clashes of marathi speakers and non-marathi speakers and a lot of politics.

Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Krishan Kumar it promises to be a mass entertainer with plenty of music-popping, intense action sequences and a love story to look out for. With little details of the plotline and the uncharacteristic dynamic between the leads, I am eager to get a further glimpse at the movie; expecting a good performance, given that they are both debutantes.

Releasing on June 28th. Watch the trailer here –
