The much anticipated official trailer of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi has just released and we can’t stop getting goosebumps!!
Needless to say, the life of women in India is difficult as compared to their counterparts. Be it biologically or in terms of roles played by them according to the societal rules, I think we can all agree that women have a lot on their plate! But way back in the 1800s in India, what was the mental and physical calibre sought from a woman if she had to be chosen to be a Queen?
The trailer of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is a mini peek into the journey of a girl from being Manikarnika to Rani Lakshmi Bai to Jhansi Ki Rani while playing the roles of a daughter, a wife, a mother and a Queen. The story is set during the Indian Rebellion of 1857 when India was being invaded by the British East India Company.
Within 25 seconds, the trailer has a fearless Manikarnika shooting a leaping tiger with an arrow and that is only the start of the goosebumps that you will get while watching it. She is married off to the King of Jhansi to become a queen. But things go downhill when her husband dies and leaves her behind with their son. With the British eyeing her Kingdom, Rani Lakshmi Bai swears to serve her motherland and to save it from invasion till there is blood flowing through her veins.“Hum ladenge! Aur Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ke Swaraj ke sapne ko punar jeevit karenge!” She simply refuses to give up no matter what adversities may come by and says: “Main apni Jhansi nahi dungi!”
I can’t wait to watch the movie since it is the first historic biography starring Kangana Ranaut in a lead. Produced by Zee Studios and Kamal Jain, the film is directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is the story of valour and sacrifice made by a fierce warrior for her country. Set to release on January 25th 2019, this movie is presumably that wave of patriotism we all need to appreciate the beautiful, strong and independent republic India that we live in today.
