After Bareilly ki Barfi and Luka Chuppi, this is the third time Pankaj Tripathi and Kriti Sanon are working together and once again it seems to be a great collaboration.

The trailer of Mimi, produced by Dinesh Vijan & Jio Studios, released just now. In the trailer we see the journey of Mimi (Kriti Sanon) from an ambitious small town dancer to discovering surrogacy via Bhanu, the character played by Pankaj Tripathi.

What she sees as an easy method to make good money doesn’t turn out to be that simple of a road ahead. There are twists and turns which engulfs her family in a whirlpool of confusion as the characters try and keep their boat afloat. At the core of the film is a desperate attempt to depict how surrogacy, unplanned pregnancies and motherhood are still not the norm in the Indian society. Supriya Pathak & Manoj Pahwa play Mimi’s parents.

The trailer, clocking in at 3 minutes, is exuberant, energetic and seems to be perfectly balanced with some excellent dialogues. However, it gives away entirely too much of the story which is a bummer.

The film has been directed by Laxman Utekar & the music for the film has been composed by A. R. Rahman.

Mimi releases on 30th July on Netflix and Jio Cinema. Check the trailer here –
