It’s a crucial point in time as Shah Rukh Khan makes his return to the big screen. That is, of course, not to take away any credit or stardom from Deepika Padukone or John Abraham but the film and everyone’s expectations do revolve around Shah Rukh as of now. Keeping in mind all that has transpired lately, Shah Rukh’s ‘Pathaan’ is expected to again prove that the Baadhshah of Bollywood is unparalleled.

In ‘Pathaan’, John Abraham heads a private terrorist organisation who sets his eyes on India for an attack that shall change India forever. On getting to know of this ‘red flag’, while working for the Indian government, Dimple Kapadia decides to summon Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) as she exclaims, “Ab Pathaan ke vanvaas ka time, khatm huya.”

Shah Rukh Khan dons long locks, fires bullets, breaks bones, flies a helicopter loaded with ammunition and then with a face smeared in blood, puts on a pair of black shades.

Pathaan is a patriotic, maybe an ex-soldier turned undercover agent who must protect his country. And the same is claimed by Deepika Padukone, who calls herself a soldier and offers to join Pathaan on this mission. The film exists in the ‘YRF Spy Universe’ and we change multiple locations, multiple vehicles, multiple firearms and a couple of hairstyles.

Although not much is spoken in the trailer from Pathaan himself but that only one dialogue present, does carry the grandeur that we associate with SRK. The film also features a cameo by Salman Khan though not revealed in the trailer.

The film also has Ashutosh Rana as Colonel Sunil Luthra, along with Gautam Rode, Dimple Kapadia, Siddhant Ghegadmal, Shaji Choudhary in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films and directed by Siddharth Anand.

‘Pathaan’ releases in theatres worldwide on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
