Nawazuddin Siddiqui has a certain unrefined charm to him, in a way that’s raw and distinct. Be it his dialogue delivery, his intensity or the rage of his gaze; this erstwhile diminutive man is certainly a black swan in Bollywood. After some incredible performances marking his very illustrious career backed by years of struggle, he is almost like the quintessential underdog. The man who took on the biggest and baddest of bollywood and somehow left them in the dust interns of his performance.
Siddiqui now reprises his role as an underdog in Raat Akeli Hai. However, Siddiqui is far from the only stellar performers in this crime drama. Starring Radhika Apte, Radhika Apte, Shweta Tripathi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Nishant Dahiya, Ila Arun, Swanand Kirkire and Aditya Srivastava, Raat Akeli Hai certainly has a roster of talented actors. This is further backed by what seems like a suspenseful, goosebumps-inducing trailer giving us a glimpse into the underdog vs. top dog story. Raat Akeli Hai follows the story of a small-time cop investigating the death of a powerful politician. Seemingly unfazed by threats, both veiled and direct, Jatil Yadav trudges on. It certainly has got me hooked, and if Apte and Siddiqui’s performances in Sacred Games was a benchmark, you should be too.
