Netflix has finally dropped the trailer of its next original offering Ray.

Ray is one of the most anticipated offerings of 2021. The anthology will be made of 4 shorts, all based on stories by the auteur filmmaker & writer Satyajit Ray.

This year marks Satyajit Ray’s birth centenary and the film world has been celebrating the legend in various ways. For Netflix and its viewers, it will be via this film adaptation of four of his short stories. The films have been titled Forget Me Not, Hungama hai Kyun Barpa, Spotlight and Bahrupiya.

Ray’s trailer looks extraordinary, and its BGM and visuals only add to the promise! The trailer opens with the lines “We’re just like Gods. We too are creators. We give birth too…just like He does”. We are then introduced to the main characters from these 4 stories – Ipsit Nair (Ali Fazal), a successful entrepreneur, who is said to have the memory of a computer; Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor playing a Bollywood superstar who encounters a Saadhvi/God woman and is transfixed by her popularity; Manoj Bajpayee as a ghazal singer who comes across someone on a train who may change his life; and finally Kay Kay Menon as a computer operator who dreams of becoming a makeup artist.

The trailer is slick and promises the exploration of the grey in all of us – a psychological thriller going deep into the most vulnerable human emotions of ego, revenge, envy & betrayal.

This newest Netflix anthology has directors Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji and Vasan Bala associated with it. In addition to the actors mentioned above, Ray also stars an envy-inducing bevvy of cast members including Gajraj Rao, Shweta Basu Prasad, Anindita Bose, Bidita Bag, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Radhika Madan, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor.

Ray will be available to stream on Netflix from 25th June.
