In the vast list of gestures that a son can do for his parents or grandparents, Netflix announces the release of a film that stands out from the rest. The story speaks of a young man seeking to be a part of his grandmother’s will. In that chase, he gets entangled in the singular wish that she has before she dies.
The film stars Arjun Kapoor, Neena Gupta, Rakul Preet Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari, John Abraham, and many more. The casting seems to be ambitious however, the characters that seep through the trailer make it feel like there could not be a better fit.
Arjun’s character is an energetic young man who wants to achieve a lot in life and, at the same time, be a good grandson. His grandmother, Neena Gupta, seems to be a witty woman with a soft heart. Going to Lahore, to visit her home is her ultimate dream and Arjun does what he can to make it come true. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, Arjun has to change gears and bring the house to her.
With glimpses of romance, comedy, action, and tragedy, the film builds up a lot on the number of emotions that it expects its audiences to go through. The soundtrack sounds promising with remixes of iconic songs from the past. The cinematography is one to look forward to when the film releases, as the idea of relocating an entire house from one city to another brings in a lot of expectations of great graphics and visuals.
Bollywood is yet to explore grand gestures like the one that Sardar Ka Grandson offers us and there is nothing but an impatient viewer in us waiting for 18th May 2021.
