As the month of March rolls ahead of us and we are on the brink of welcoming yet Another Hot and Boiling Summer, Sooryavanshi’s trailer has been unveiled with all the pomp, grandeur, flying cars and exploding buses. This cop drama, presumably set in the same Universe as Singham and Simba, is just as action packed as any of the other movies if not more. With Action movies there’s a reasonable expectation of throwing out all the laws of physics and realism out of the window, and Akshay Kumar as the protagonist Veer Sooryavanshi takes the cake while dangling off of a helicopter and kicking goon behinds. Directed by Rohit Shetty and set in his cinematic universe, the trailer gave us a very brief peek into what the movie is all about. In typical Rohit Shetty fashion, expensive rolls royces, mustangs and scorpios have a big role in the film – dare I say explosive, even. Katrina Kaif plays the female lead in Sooryavanshi but the trailer doesn’t reveal much about her role in the film, we will have to wait and watch what the female protagonist’s role is.
Written by Sajid-Farhad, Produced by Rohit Shetty, Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta, it is the fourth installment of Shetty’s Police Universe and features Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif along with Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer and Vivan Bhatena, while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles of Singham and Simba from the franchise’s previous films in cameo appearances. The songs are composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Lijo George – DJ Chetas and JAM8, while lyrics written by Rashmi Virag, Shabbir Ahmed and Tanishk Bagchi.
Sooryavanshi will debut in a theater near you, playing 24/7, on March 24, 2020.
