It’s loud, buzzing, fresh & it’s live! The Morning Show season 2 trailer is drool worthy for the action that it promises. If one was to sum it up in one sentence, season 2 is all about standing up and walking through the door no matter what befalls you. Even if it’s a goddamn raging, angry, deadly pandemic.

The 10-episode Season 2 of the morning news drama, starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and run by executive producer Kerry Ehrin, will premiere on 17th September on Apple TV+, with new episodes rolling out each week.

In the second season, UBA’s ratings are down and it’s time to clean up the act after the first season closed on the whistleblowing ordeal between Alex (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon). Alex is in exile in the countryside, chopping wood & introspecting when Cory (Billy Crudup) arrives to ask for help & declares, “You are the only thing that can save us.”

There is also a FRIENDS reference as Bradley seems to channel Jill Green and says, “I feel like they are bringing in my big sister to clean up my mess”. Anyway, Alex makes a comeback with a history that she is aware is not everyone’s cup of tea. The show also takes on the “coronavirus thing” but throughout the trailer, we do not see many masks or social distancing so we are intrigued to see how they work the pandemic into the show.

Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Tom Irwin, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar and Marcia Gay Harden all reprise their roles for Season 2.

Mitch (Carell) still seems to be in seclusion, Alex and Bradley discuss on deciding what the truth is and getting the facts right at lunch, while at the workplace the existing racism is called out with a resounding “there is a pattern of behavior around here that disadvantages the people of color.”

This season’s new additions include Greta Lee, who plays according to Apple, “Stella Bak, a tech world wunderkind who has joined the UBA executive team,” and Julianna Margulies as Laura Peterson, a UBA news anchor. Other new cast members include Ruairi O’Connor (“Ty Fitzgerald, a smart and charismatic YouTube star”) Hasan Minhaj (Eric Nomani, “a new member of ‘The Morning Show’ team”), Holland Taylor (“Cybil Richards, the savvy chairwoman of the UBA board”), Tara Karsian  (“Gayle Berman, a news producer”) and Valeria Golino (“Paola Lambruschini, a documentary filmmaker”) and Will Arnett (“Doug Klassen, Alex’s agent”)

There’s confetti, fireworks, newsrooms, board meetings and like Cory says as the trailer closes out, “This is a battle for the soul of the universe.”
