The trailer opens with an indication of the era. 1795. We know from the background score that it is going to be an epic movie with loads of actions and twists. We then witness the beauty of the movie as a whole. The visual effects. The narration begins and you know who it is. It shows an image of Amitabh Bachchan that we haven’t seen in ages now. The man who was an angry young man back in the day is back with justice and bharosa with him, to fight our capturers.
Then they move to the part where the British obviously cannot handle Azad (Amitabh Bachchan) and are keen on finding someone who is up to his level to beat him down. Who do they turn to? The bastard, as he calls himself, Ameer Ali (Aamir Khan). The film is actually adapted from a book – Confessions of a Thug, where Ameer Ali and his gang’s nefarious ways posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India between 1790 and 1805.
The trailer looks a little bit too much with all the effects and the mixture of intensities. You have Amitabh’s character which is a little too headstrong and then you have Aamir who is a sly, cunning fox. Katrina Kaif, playing an entertainer if that’s even mildly related to what we see in the trailer. It seems like a promising one where we can’t really figure out if the climax would be as exciting as the movie looks. It might just be the historical movie of the year with a great approach to Editing and Effects that Bollywood has seriously been lacking.
Written and Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya with a cast that has Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and the Dangal girl, Fatima Shaikh, releasing on the 8th of November.
