The upcoming Netflix original straight outta Bollywood ‘Haseen Dilruba’ is a murder mystery set in the context of a love triangle.
The trailer presents to you the three main characters of the film, played by Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey & Harshvardhan Rane, and the murder mystery they find themselves embroiled in. What unravels is a series of accusations, a failing marriage and a twisted maze to figure out the truth behind the murder but not without a dose of humour & one liners, even if dark.
The trailer starts with Taapsee’s character Rani talking about her favourite murder mystery author who specialises in setting “big” murders in small cities, thereby setting the scene for the rest of the clip to follow which shows how Rishu (played by Massey) fell in love at first sight with Rani but their marriage is no bed of roses. What starts off as typical romance between the two soon starts to fade as Rani feels that their marriage lacks passion. Enter Rane’s character with whom Rani seems to have a passionate affair. In parallel, the trailer shows the investigation of a murder where Rani seems to be the main suspect with the investigating officer being played by Aditya Srivastava of CID fame.
The trailer ends with Rani quoting her favourite murder mystery author Dinesh Pandit, “Amar prem wohi hai jis par khoon ke halke-halke se cheete hon, taaki use buri nazar na lage.”
While the trailer seems formulaic, it is engaging and does intrigue us enough to want to watch the film when it releases on Netflix on the 2nd of July.
Haseen Dillruba has been written by Kanika Dhillon and directed by Vinil Mathew.
