Yet another Action thriller of Shahid Kapoor that manages to keep you hooked throughout. Directed by reputed director Ali Abbas Zafar, “Bloody Daddy” is a remake of the French language Nuit Blanche, which in turn was adapted in Tamil as ‘Thoonga Vanam’ starring Kamal Hasan, gets a Bollywood touch, with higher body count, more gorey scenes and of course at times unnecessary intense dialogues.

For a movie that was allowed to shoot despite the pandemic-era, it fails to live upto the cultural expectations. Here, Shahid Kapoor plays Sumair, a narcotics cop who is ready to take on the world to save the one relationship that truly matters to him. And then begins the chase, a chase for the possession of a bag that contains 500 million worth Cocaine, the villain who kidnaps Sumair’s son making him go rogue to rescue him and the good cops trying to catch him. This pretty much makes the whole story of the movie.

This movie sure has a super cast, and the actors give it all when it comes to their performances. The hard hitting action scenes of Shahid amp up the fast paced chasing and the intensity of such skillfully paced sequences. But one thing that each character lacks is depth in their background story, which could have been more fleshed out. Since all the clues are obvious from the start, when two drug dealers are shot dead in an early morning shootout and the two persons who collect the bag are forced to flee, the excitement of trying to figure out which police officer is a crook only propels the movie so far.

This being said, one thing that surely deserves appreciation is the great timing of jokes/punch lines. Not once do they seem forced or awkwardly placed, which is quite a rare feat in such a take on the genre.

While the movie successfully manages to unfold and bring out the post pandemic scenario, where the public is eager to party hard with a genuine surge in the demand of drugs, it also fails to outshine, or rather stand out from other celebrated breakneck action-thrillers.
