After the success of Fukrey 1 and Fukrey Returns, comes the next in the franchise, Fukrey 3. The story continues from “Fukrey 2” where the fukra gang is trying to move forward in life and make a new beginning. But success does not come to them in the start.

Bholi Punjaban prepares to contest elections to increase her status for which she decides to take help from the fukra gang which makes Fukras realize their capabilities and they decide to compete against Bholi Punjaban which prompts Bholi to make an elaborate plan and pack them off to South Africa. Will Fukrey be able to prove themselves and how does deja chu help them this time, spanning all the way from Delhi to South Africa is what “Fukrey 3” is all about.

Vipul Vig has written the screenplay of and Mrigdeep Singh Lamba has directed the film. The writing of this film is neither different nor something brilliant. Mrigdeep Singh Lamba has directed the film well but more comic punches should have been added in the second half. His hold on the film in the first half is excellent. One after the other, such funny dialogues come which make you laugh like anything. On the other hand, the second half is loose and it seems like most of the jokes were used in the first half itself. Perhaps due to the current trends, he lays more emphasis on giving messages. Well, it is nothing less than a risk to make a comedy film more than two hours long and that’s exactly what happens with Mrigdeep Lamba. He is clearly seen struggling to maintain the gravity of humor in the third part. A bit of tight editing could have worked in their favor.

In terms of acting, the film impresses. The characters are established and well known and the actors have added a lot of color to them. Varun Sharma has won hearts as always in the role of Chucha. It won’t be an exaggeration if we say it is completely a one-man show of Chucha – from jokes to love triangle, everything has been woven around his character. Pankaj Tripathi as Pandit ji gives a fun performance. As usual, Pulkit Samrat is doing the job of handling Chucha’s madness very well by playing the role of Honey. Manjot Singh also makes the audience laugh a lot with his expressions in the second half. Richa’s swag and boldness as Bholi Punjaban is amazing. Be it Varun and Pankaj Tripathi, Varun-Pulkit or Varun-Manjot, there is a different chemistry between every character and the audience enjoys this chemistry a lot.

Despite there being scope for songs and music in the film, the director could not capitalize on it. After giving a superhit song like Ambarsariya, both Fukrey 2 and Fukrey 3 have been a disappointment in terms of music. There is no memorable song even in this part. Abhishek Nailwal’s background music and Amalendu Chowdhary’s cinematography is good.

Honestly speaking, we have not expected something out of the world from “Fukrey 3” but when you make a sequel of a film you already have that responsibility towards the audiences to be better than the previous film of the franchise and show something new, which is totally missing from Fukrey 3. For now, if you liked Fukrey and Fukrey Returns and have the patience to watch the same story and characters again and again with slight variations in the name of the franchise please go ahead, or else it can be skipped.

Fukrey 3 is now showing in theaters near you.
