Nimrat Kaur starrer “School Of Lies”, is Disney Plus Hotstar’s upcoming drama thriller series, the trailer for which was released just recently. The show, directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware and written by Ishani Banerjee, is inspired by real life incidents.
The one-minute-35-second long trailer gives us a glimpse into the story of a 12 year-old school going boy Shakti Salgoankar who suddenly goes missing from a private boarding school Rise in the fictional town of Dalton, surrounded by the hills. When school authorities get to know about his disappearance, they begin the search on their part but all in vain.
Nimrit Kaur steps in as a school counsellor who talks with the other children to get a clue in finding Shakti. But in the process, she discovers many shocking facts about Shakti from other kids, thus realizing how Shakti was a liar and always considered himself superior to others, which leaves her confused.
When the school authorities fail to find Shakti, his mother decides to take help from the cops to get back his son. As the investigation proceeds, things which seemed much simpler at first take a complicated route.
Other than Nimrat Kaur, the eight-episode series also stars Sonali Kulkarni, Aamir Bashir, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Jitendra Joshi and Hemant Kher among others. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the storyline. But as mentioned by the director earlier, “It is the story of a child’s loneliness, disconnect and repression. Also the story of a child’s freedom, magic and more. Every child in a boarding school or otherwise, will go through these phases at some point or the other.” The trailer ends with the dialogue, “Ek sach ko chupane ke liye yahan kitne jhoot bole jaa rahe hain” adding up to our curiosity.
“School Of Lies” will start streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar from June 2, 2023 in multiple languages.
