“Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo” announces the arrival of a new druglord in town. Rani Ba played by Dimple Kapadia, is a ferocious, violent and determined businesswoman whose business deals in a unique, special drug that goes by the name of Flamingo. Her most loyal, trusted aides and partners-in-crime are her two daughters-in-law and one daughter played by Radhika Madan, Angira Dhar and Isha Talwar, respectively.
“Jadibuti aur handicrafts se seedha drugs ma?”, exclaims one of Rani Ba’s sons, as they visit their hometown to find a drug empire. The series is certainly special with respect to having women lead the show. And moreover, it casts them in a rather unexpected fashion, where they break bones and get involved in lethal fights as they build and safeguard Rani Cooperative, a front for their drug racket run by Rani Ba. With cops and power figures thrown into the mix, the trailer leaves you feeling that it will pack enough punch to breakthrough the prevalent ott clutter.
The show also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Ashish Verma, Varun Mitra, Udit Arora, Deepak Dobriyal, Monica Dogra and Jimit Trivedi. Produced by Maddock Films, “Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo” is directed and created by Homi Adajani and starts streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from May 5.
