The long awaited trailer of Big B’s longer delayed film ‘Jhund’ was finally unveiled today much to the delight of fans. ‘Jhund’ is a biographical sports drama, which is based on the story of a Nagpur based social worker and the founder of Nagpur’s NGO Slum Soccer, Vijay Barse, who coaches kids from slum areas to form a football team.

The film is directed by National award winning director, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, who’s much popular for his blockbuster Marathi film ‘Sairat’, which spread his name across the length and breadth of the country like wildfire. With ‘Jhund’ he’s all set to make his debut in bollywood and besides this the film also marks his first collaboration with the megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

The trailer starts off with a bunch of gully kids who are involved in criminal like activities such as chain snatching, gang wars, etc. And this is where Amitabh Bachchan enters as Vijay Barse – a professor who wants to spend some time with these kids from slum areas. He sees potential in them and decides to change them and their life for good.

However, no one shows faith in him as they believe nothing can change this rowdy ‘jhund’. Some say, playing football is a far away thing if this bunch can speak properly it will be a huge victory while others say they are doing nothing but spoiling football’s name.

But, Vijay Barse never gives up on them and decides to convert this ‘jhund’ into a football team and inculcate values in them through sports. In one of the scenes where he was heard telling someone that no matter how these kids behave they are pure at heart shows the honest bond which he has developed with his ‘jhund’.

The one thing which managed to impress me the most in the trailer was how even girls were considered to play football. In fact, they were kept equal to men. No matter how much we say we have progressed and things have changed but still there’s a section of society which thinks sports isn’t for women and little efforts like this will certainly pave the way to change their thinking sooner or later.

The three minute long trailer ends with a kid asking Amitabh Bachchan, “Bharat matlab?” leaving us equally shocked as him. The scene might seem ordinary to many but it tells the sad truth of our society. For a lot of people who belong to the underprivileged section of the society things like nation or nationality is an unknown concept and all that matters to them is to manage their bread and butter.

Judging by the trailer, ‘Jhund’ promises to be an exciting and heart-warming watch for the family audiences. The film also stars ‘Sairat’ stars Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru in prominent roles. The songs of the film have already been released and were loved by the audience. It includes tracks like ‘Lafda Jala’, ‘Aaya Ye Jhund Hai’, ‘Laat Maar’ among others which are composed by the successful duo of Ajay-Atul, who earlier composed timeless bop ‘Zingaat’ for Manjule’s ‘Sairat’.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Savita Raj Hiremath, Raaj Hiremath, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Gargee Kulkarni, Meenu Aroraa & Sandeep Singh, under the banner of T-Series, Tandav Films Entertainment & Aatpat. It’s being distributed worldwide by Zee Studios.

Big B starrer ‘Jhund’ is all set to hit the theatres on 4th March, 2022. You can catch the trailer here –https://youtu.be/iqydRuNr2yY
