It’s a short trailer, doesn’t give away much but has a peppy score playing throughout that is enough to do its job. The second season of Lust Stories 2 follows in the footsteps of the first season, in the essence that it is an anthology of 4 different stories, directed by 4 directors, upholding the theme of lust, whether suppressed or misplaced.
The trailer opens with an innuendo from a grandmother played by Neena Gupta, instructing her granddaughter (Mrunal Thakur) that the body is like a ‘volcano’ only satiated when it erupts, further urging her to go for a ‘test drive’, with her prospective husband. On the other hand, is the story of a man (Kumud Mishra) who has a lustful gaze over her house-help, forcing his wife’s hand (Kajol) to fire her.
Vijay Varma is a married man who wants to get back together with his ex-girlfriend from a decade back, only to be met with rejection. And the last story, sees Tillotama Shome suspect her maid played by Amruta Subhash, having a sexual relationship with a delivery guy, in her bedroom, whenever she’s not home.
While there are a couple of extra-marital affairs in the mix, it’s the well-meaning advice from Neena Gupta’s character, describing the body like that of a volcano, eager to erupt, that stays the highlight of the trailer. Societal norms, class divides, unchecked sexual urge and the morality of lust, appear to be the various themes explored.
While the trailer doesn’t disclose which story is directed by whom, it’s an exciting set of directors at the helm with Amit R Sharma, R Balki, Sujoy Ghosh and Konkona Sensharma. Lust Stories 2 starts streaming on Netflix from 29th June.
