One of the most highly anticipated films of the year, Shershaah’s trailer finally released today. And I’ve a lot of things to talk about, but first and foremost, let us celebrate that after a long time, Bollywood seems ready to deliver another large scale cinematic marvel!

Shershaah stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in lead roles along with Sahil Vaid, Shiv Pandit, Pranay Pachauri and Raj Arjun among others. This film will mark Vishnu Varadhan’s directorial debut in Bollywood, although he has helmed several Tamil films. It is co-produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment.

Sidharth Malhotra is portraying the role of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra who was martyred while fighting for the country during the Kargil War (1999) & Kiara Advani is seen portraying the role of his fiancé Dimple Cheema.

Readers are bound to remember Captain Batra for not only his love for the country but his zeal for life & his work. And of course for the line he made immortal for ages to come, “Yeh dil maange more!”

The trailer opens with Sidharth Malhotra’s powerful dialogue emphasizing that there’s no greater honour than being a soldier, no greater pride than donning a soldier’s uniform and there’s no religion greater than one’s country. We get to witness Kargil in every shade, from looking like a picture-postcard place to revealing the danger the region was engulfed in.

Through the second half of the trailer, we can see Vikram leaving for the war and fighting at the forefront, full of energy but having no fear. We also got a few glimpses of the innocent romance between Vikram and his fiancé Dimple who stood by him like a pillar.

The Kargil War was one of the deadliest wars fought between India & Pakistan, in which many soldiers lost their lives fighting for the country. The trailer does justice to those brave souls and we hope that the film will be a good way to remember those courageous men who were martyred protecting India.

“I’ll either come back after raising the Indian flag in victory or return wrapped in it, but I will come back for sure.”

These lines by Sidharth in the trailer sum up the patriotic theme & emotions that the movie is based upon.

Shershaah will be released on 12th August 2021 on Amazon Prime.
