The trailer for the upcoming inspirational drama Toofaan, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, just released & it seems like the film has a lot to offer. Farhan Akhtar is seen as Aziz Ali a.k.a Toofaan, a goon turned boxer, who is considering a comeback after being banned for five years.

It starts with Mrunal Thakur’s character Pooja, a doctor & Toofan’s love interest as well as moral compass, informing him that his ban has been lifted. However Aziz is less than thrilled with the news and the trailer goes into a flashback thereafter where we are shown his journey from a roadside goon to a trained boxer under the tutelage of his coach, played by Paresh Rawal, and how an apparent controversy derails his career.

The trailer also shows us a glimpse of Vijay Raaz delivering some insightful dialogues about the world of  violence Aziz was engaged in before becoming Toofan. However, in my opinion, this trailer gives away entirely too much unlike the previously released teaser which was concise and successful in creating mystery & excitement around the movie.

From the makers of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and partly produced by Farhan’s own production company, Excel Entertainment, there are obvious comparisons being made in terms of acting, cinematography, direction and soundtracks with the previous collaboration of the director & the actor. The trailer does give hints of a gorgeous colour palette. An energetic background score fuels up adrenaline which is successful in igniting an interest in the audience.

Toofaan will stream on Amazon Prime India from 16th July onwards.
