Perspectives are what make a story, which in turn is ruled by subjectivity. This subjectivity is further subject to the narrators biases. This is what gives strength to any story, and this is what makes or breaks it. Our vision is often relegated to what the director wants us to see, and Guilty offers us a different one. Seen through the eyes of an alleged rapist’s girlfriend, played by Kiara Advani. It is a horrible position to be in, as all objectivity is lost when such a serious allegation is made, and emotions rule our judgement. Set in an  urban college with privileged student-cum-musicians, exploring themselves and the world. It is a divide as old as history, the rich and the poor, the elite and the non-elites, men and women. It is all a part of what makes this film, directed by Ruchi Narain. Guilty stars Kiara Advani and Ashrut Jain in the lead roles.

Kiara Advani nails the grunge look here, with facial tattoos, colored hair and piercings. This rather clever attention to the nuances is quite commendable, as such people are more likely to be misjudged by the society, where the convicted are guilty unless proven innocent. The trailer does a brilliant role of building up suspense for the upcoming film, with sombre colors and a thumping music score. The trailer leaves questioning what actually happened.
